Little Naomi is the perfect height for this hybrid papaya tree – a tad short though for her Dad, Peter. But this is what makes them a great addition to families in rural Malawi. They grow taller than this but still short enough to harvest the fruit without damaging it so they can sell any surplus fruit at market.
At the moment the family enjoy papaya for breakfast before Naomi goes to pre-school. The other added bonus is that this papaya tree was only planted in December and it is already producing fruits.
