Making green schools in Malawi by planting trees

Green schools

In Nkhotakota it isn’t only farmers taking part in tree planting but several schools too. The environment club at Kasamba Community Day Secondary School has 30 members.

Since the trees were planted, the students make sure they are watered and the area around them is weeded too. Some of these trees are being grown for timber.

Form 4 student, Tione Magomer, said, “This will help the school as they will be able to sell the timber and use the money to buy resources to improve the school for everyone learning there.”
