Chimango Community Club have been together for almost a year now. The members have grown vegetables to support their families, and to start their chicken business, and they have raised 1,000 fruit tree seedlings.
Viapani is the Chairman. He said, “We are all farmers but we have not had training. This project has taught us alot about making Mbeya manure, natural pesticides, and how to set up farming businesses. We are very grateful.”
This Club members were able to buy 20 chicks with the money they made from the vegetables, and when they reached six-weeks, sold them for 11,000MWK each (approx.£5/$6.50). They have one left.
Although they will continue investing in farming as a group, in the future they will split the profits so each member can set up their own small businesses.
