Some of the Ripple Africa UK team have touched down in Malawi! Yesterday Nikki and Madison were out visiting our tree farmers in Salima District.
They met Fackson and his youngest son Trapeze who have raised 1,400 seedlings this year. All seedlings here are Acacia trees, they’re fast growing and are great for firewood.
Last year he planted out 2,000 seedlings of which 1,200 are surviving. One of the biggest challenges for the project is that Salima District has faced both flash flooding and droughts.
When asked why he wants to be a part of the tree planting project he said it’s great for the environment, will provide his family with firewood, and will be a good source of income for his family of eight.
