It is World Population Day today and the theme this year is “Empowering young people to create the families they want in a fair and hopeful world.”
All of our projects focus on empowering people to achieve their potential – and our Family Planning and Sexual Health project enables people to make informed choices on the family they wish to have.
However, Malawi’s rapidly growing population combined with a lack of jobs, shortage of foreign exchange in the country, and underfunded public services mean that our projects are essential if Malawians are to have a more hopeful and fairer future in the Districts where we work.
Our projects include educating fishing communities to fish sustainably, supporting families to establish their own farming businesses, and providing fuel-efficient cookstoves which are safer and gives back hours of time each week to the women that cook and collect firewood.
We are realists at Ripple Africa and our long term commitment to local communities and sustainable simple community led projects is why we achieve such amazing results.
