John and Chesdell have been busy at the library working on the children’s book audit. Together they have been sorting through the books, letting go of some of the older ones to make room for new and updated books.
As they were sorting them, they had the opportunity to become refamiliarised with some of the stories so they now have a set of new recommendations for young library members. One of our objectives is to encourage more young readers in the local villages so this will help.
Many children in Malawi don’t have access to books which can hinder their learning process. The older books that have been cleared off the shelves have been made available to children in the community to take home and keep.
John and Chesdell are also encouraging adult library members borrow a book for their children at home too.
As the library evolves and offers a wider selection of books, we hope more young readers will join and we will support them on their reading and literacy journey.
