Happy to have water back in Malawi

Water water

Galamuku Village is home to 76 households and for a year they have lived without a working borehole. This has meant that for most women in these households, they have had to walk two to three hours to access clean water for the nearest working borehole.

This borehole is at a school so it is disruptive for the students plus with the added number of people using the borehole, there is a chance it could break too.

We are proud therefore to have fixed the borehole in Galamuku Village and the excitement in this video is a clear sign that the whole village is happy to have water back.

Fortune, 30, who is pumping the first bucket said, “I would have to walk two hours, four times a day, to collect water but this borehole is only 10 minutes from my house. I am happy it will be working again as it will give me more time to do my business and care for my children.”
