Each year we have been pleased to welcome volunteers to support our projects and often medical volunteers not only help in the clinics but on the projects that we run too.
Natalie was one nurse who supported Rebecca and Watson on the Family Planning, Sexual Health, and Life Skills project.
She spent time with the women’s groups to understand their perspectives on family planning before creating Life Game which featured cutouts representing everyday expenses, such as food, clothing, and children’s education materials, alongside cutouts for essential needs like housing, crops, and medical expenses.
The purpose of this game was to illustrate the financial implications of having another child and how it affects the stability of their household resources. Many women in the group expressed a desire not to have another child, and some worried about the potential consequences if it did happen. Through the interactive game and the insights gained from Rebecca’s knowledge about family planning options, the women gained a clearer understanding of their situations.
