In Mankhwazi Village in Salima District we met Katrina and her son Severiano. Katrina has eight children and six grandchildren. Life has become harder and harder as the years have gone by.
She said, “We used to have lots of trees and reliable rainfall. This is not the case now. I wanted to plant trees for my children so that they benefit in future.”
Katrina has planted 4,000 acacia trees on degraded farmland. Her plan is to plant thousands more and her son is willing to help. He said, “My mother raised me, this is the time for me to give back and help her.”
