CHILDREN ATTENDING PRE-SCHOOL EACH DAY

LOCALLY TRAINED TEACHERS EMPLOYED

CHILDREN HAVE BEEN TAUGHT SO FAR
Let us introduce you to Ellen. She teaches at one of our pre-schools. We run eight pre-schools, providing an early childhood education to over 800 children every day in Malawi. The children learn the alphabet, numbers, colours, shapes and much more. Singing, dancing and play are important parts of the day too.
But Ellen’s story with Ripple Africa starts much earlier than her pre-school role. Founders Geoff and Liz met Ellen one day near our headquarters at Mwaya Beach where she explained that she was having to walk 12km each way to school as there wasn’t a local secondary school in the Mwaya area.
Geoff and Liz visited the school she attended to see for themselves and discovered two very dilapidated buildings which were overcrowded with students. So what did Ripple Africa do? We responded to this need by building Kapanda Community Day Secondary School.
Whilst too late for Ellen to attend, this school now has more than 500 students enrolled and since building the first classrooms in 2008, today there is a science and computer lab, girls dormitory and study room too.
Ellen is proud of this achievement for the community. She has been teaching at our pre-schools for over 10 years, sharing her knowledge with the next generation. Support our pre-school project including teachers like Ellen.
