In order to raise more understanding around Family Planning and Sexual Health topics, the team regularly support the Under 5 clinics. Their latest session at Kachere clinic had 120 women in attendance.
The topics on the day included the impact of the growing population on Malawi’s natural resources and also why women choose to access contraceptives after having a baby.
One of the volunteers, and also a mother at the group, gave a practical demonstration on the need to plan when to have children. She did this by imitating being pregnant and with one child on her back, another on her shoulders and another holding her hand. Whilst comical to watch the mother struggle with three children so close together in age, it highlighted to the other women the benefits to accessing contraceptives and planning when and how many children to have.
