Singing about sweet potatoes! As farmers harvest their sweet potatoes, our team, along with the District Agriculture team, organised events in each project area to teach local people about the orange-fleshed sweet potatoes, and their benefits. Although the farmers growing them will keep some for themselves, they will sell surplus at local markets.
Farmers explained about the growing process whilst others prepared dishes and shared recipes on what could be made from the sweet potatoes. This included stews, porridge, doughnuts, soup and even juice.
There is one more event to come next month so we will share more then on what the locals thought of the food they tasted.
