As many schools prepare to break up for their summer holidays, schools are continuing through the summer in Malawi.
Ordinarily schools in Malawi follow similar term dates to the UK. However, since the pandemic caused school closures, the school year has been extended to ensure children do not miss out on crucial learning time.
Therefore, Term 2 finishes on the 12th of August and after a short two week holiday, Term 3 will commence on the 30th of August. This will mean that the 2020/21 Academic Year will now finish on the 19th of November.
For many parents, especially in a country where the majority of children don’t have access to online or home learning materials, will be grateful that their children are receiving a full academic year.
