Farmers are learning how to make briquettes from agricultural waste in Malawi

Rice husk briquettes

If you read our Tree Planting and Forest Conservation report you will know that we are in the process of trialling a briquette project. These briquettes are made using agricultural waste such as rice husks and could be a brilliant solution to the demand for charcoal.

Equally, if we can support families or groups to make these, they can create a sustainable business. This could be an alternative for those involved in the illegal charcoal industry too.
