We are saddened to share the news that former librarian, Mr Longwe, has passed away.
A well-known person in the local community, Mr Longwe was head librarian at our Community Library from when it opened in 2005 until he retired in 2016.
Mr Longwe was known for his principles and work ethic that made the opening of the library so successful. A former teacher, Mr Longwe loved encouraging people to come to the library to grow their knowledge through reading.
Many of our volunteers during that period had the pleasure of meeting Mr Longwe, not only during their Education Induction Day, but lots of our volunteers become library members themselves so they can borrow books too.
With more than 4,000 books, which were meticulously catalogued, Mr Longwe ran a very efficient library, and he was proud that only one book went missing under his watch.
