Our forest conservation project team work closely with Forest Conservation Committees to support them in their activities. Across the month, patrols take place to stop anyone producing and transporting charcoal or cutting down trees in native forests.
Positively though, Bryne said, “The number of charcoal traffickers is reducing and the number of sacks of charcoal and bicycles confiscated is less compared to the month previous. The regular patrols mean fewer people are taking part in illegal activities, and not only are people conserving trees but they are planting trees too.”
