Ripple Africa receives many general enquiries each month asking about the conditions of education in Malawi, Africa. To help those wishing to learn more, we have provided a page with information about what education is like in Malawi and, most specifically, in Nkhata Bay District where Ripple Africa is based.
Ripple Africa built Mwaya Community Library in 2005 and since then both Adult Literacy and Children’s Corner sessions take place there. With thousands of books, this library is one of very few in Malawi.
Ripple Africa has built Kapanda Community Day Secondary School near to the primary schools we support so that students don’t have to walk 15km each way to the other nearest secondary school. The school was handed over to the government to run but we continue to support Kapanda Secondary School by building new classrooms and facilities and improving existing ones.
We support six government-run primary schools in and around Mwaya in Malawi. Our aim is to improve the learning environment for the children by reducing class sizes through building new classrooms and funding additional trainee teachers.
