Zione and Kalikokha love their cookstove

Positive for everyone

We are excited to introduce you to a new family who we have recently supported and trained to build their own fuel-efficient cookstove.

Zione and her husband Kalikokha live with their six children in Kanyambo Village. Receiving their fuel-efficient cookstove in April, the couple were eager to share how their lives have changed since then.

Zione said, “I love it. It cooks faster and the fire is contained. Energy is not wasted and I save time collecting wood so I can rest and help with chores at home. Previously, on the three-stone fire, I would collect firewood with my three daughters every Saturday. I would carry a large bundle and the girls would carry smaller bundles. Now, we only do this once per month.”

As a family they farm mustard and watermelon, and Kalikokha sells fish. He said, “I cycle 5km away to the nearest market to sell the fish I buy locally. When there are less fish, I do piece work to be able to provide for my family.”

Benefits for all of the family
