Forest conservation teams continue patrols in Malawi

Patrols and firebreaks

The forest conservation team in the south of Nkhata Bay have been busy supporting 65 Forest Conservation Committees with forest patrols, firebreak clearing, training and attending Chief meetings.

They have experienced some challenges including bushfires and people coming to chop down trees or burning for charcoal.

However, the three Umbrella Committees who oversee the 65 Committees are helping by identifying anyone carrying out illegal activities by taking them to the local Chiefs to be fined.
