Meet Dales, Guinea, Patricia and Mphatso. All mothers and all keen to grow improved orange-fleshed sweet potato so that they can provide food for their families.
This is the first year that the four women are growing this improved variety however some of their children have enjoyed these sweet potatoes as they attend the pre-schools we run in and around Mwaya.
They have each received bundles of Kadyaubwelere, Kaphulira and Royal Choice varieties and Francis, our project co-ordinator, will work with them to ensure they grow them correctly and benefit from a good harvest.
He will also train them on how they can conserve their vines to use again for the following growing season.
