Our fuel-efficient cookstove team have been registering 1,000 new households in an area where we are expanding the project to.
This will benefit thousands of people and we can’t wait to teach more families the Changu Changu Moto song – oh, and help them build one too!
Here are some of the women who have been taught how to construct their own fuel-efficient cookstove, first practicing outside before returning to their kitchens to build their own.
We don’t only teach people how to build one but show them how to maintain it. This includes making sure there are the right size pot rests too. These are really important as they allow for good air flow and therefore reduce smoke.
Did you know, close to 4 million people die prematurely each year from illness attributable to household air pollution from inefficient cooking practices (World Health Organisation 2018). The Changu Changu Moto produces less smoke, reducing smoke inhalation by people cooking or sitting around the fire.
