Inspiring communities to plant and protect trees
Our tree planting project is one of the most successful tree planting projects in Malawi providing a long-term solution to fighting deforestation.
We have helped communities plant 21 million trees, working with tree clubs, farmers and schools. Protecting existing forests is equally as important so we work with over 180 Forest Conservation Committees protecting 340 sq.kms of forest.
Our fruit tree project works with 50 community groups – an important way of improving nutrition. Communities not only benefit from the fruit to eat but will are able to sell any surplus and raise an income.

We are proud that more than 250,000 people have their food cooked every day on our Changu Changu Moto fuel-efficient cookstove. This saves 80,000 bundles of wood every week.
Our fuel-efficient cookstoves are regularly monitored, independently audited and verifiable, and we reinvest the income from the sale of our carbon offsets to build more cookstoves, plant trees and conserve existing forests. It really is a win-win for people and the planet.
Ripple Africa is a nonprofit partner of 1% for the Planet, an organisation designed to help businesses of all sizes realise and act on their responsibility to protect our planet. Businesses that join 1% for the Planet commit to giving 1% of gross sales each year to their approved nonprofit partners through a variety of support.
