It is Love a Tree Day – which should be every day really – and how happy are the Kalumo family with the trees they planted in January this year.
Our tree planting project runs in Mzimba, Salima and Nkhotakota Districts and provides a long-term solution to fighting deforestation.
The Kalumo family wanted to plant trees so that they have their own woodlot as they rely on firewood for cooking. They have to buy firewood because there are no trees where they live but as their trees grow, they will be able to coppice branches for this purpose.
