Lessons with Geoffrey Furber CEO on basin making

Lessons with the CEO

During a visit to farmers who are part of the Biston Mtumba Club in Nkhotakota, it was an opportunity for them, and our local tree planting team, to learn from our CEO and founder, Geoffrey Furber MBE.

Some of the tree seedlings were planted on a slope so when the rains come, it will wash down the slope. Therefore, creating basins and covering the soil allows the water to penetrate the earth and the straw and leaves help reduce evaporation.

The club members set about creating basins and we are hopeful that these seedlings, whilst they do not look like much now, will continue to grow and flourish.
