In order to have an ongoing quality supply of the sweet potato vines to support the farmers through our Improved Orange-fleshed Sweet Potato project, we work with multiplication farmers.

Francis, the Project Manager, recently carried out training with these multiplication farmers. He said, “The training aims at sharing knowledge on sweet potato vine multiplication so that these farmers can produce healthy and disease-free vines for the project.”

The training also covered topics such as making standard seed beds, spacing of ridges, field hygiene including weeding, removing infected vines, applying manure and watering. They have also been taught how to harvest and bundle the sweet potato vines.
