In 2022 we trialled a chicken project. However, instead of handing out chicks we trained community clubs to grow vegetables.
Through the sale of these vegetables, the clubs are taught to manage money, buy the chicks, feed and vaccines, and care for them.
This year we plan to officially launch the project so Maston is busy teaching the community clubs about vegetable growing. He said, “Farmers should be able to observe good growth of their vegetables and protect them from pests and diseases in the garden.”
Each club will have about 40 vegetable beds this will provide them enough vegetables to sell to set up their chicken business and generate an income to support their families.
