Alick and Florence were born in 1935 and 1939 respectively. They are the parents of Simon Msisya, the Chairman of one of the Forest Conservation Committees in Choma, Malawi.
Sitting nestled amongst the trees, we asked Alick about how the forest has changed from when he was younger to now.
He said, “When I was younger there was no need for Conservation Committees as there was lots of trees and not many people. Over the years we have seen it changed and now we encourage our children to protect the trees as we need them. Through their hardwork we are seeing the glory in the trees returning.”
We will share more news on this Forest Conservation Committee soon but to learn more about how our forest conservation project works, click here.
