Mackson holds a bucket of seedlings in his tree nursery in Malawi

From the nursery to the field

60-year-old Mackson is busy transporting trees from his tree nursery to his field for planting out. He has the help of his seven children as between them they have 1,100 trees to plant.

The family are planting a variety of blue gum and senna siamea as well as fruit trees too. As the trees grow, they will coppice branches to provide firewood for cooking.
