Remember us in your Will
Did you know that over 30 million adults in the UK don’t have a Will? But writing one gives you peace of mind and saves your loved ones unnecessary stress at an unavoidably distressing time.
We’ve teamed up with Farewill, the largest Will writing provider in the UK to provide you with a simple, stressfree and FREE Will. Why? Because everyone should have an up to date Will, regardless of age – and it can be written in as little as 30 minutes.
After looking after your loved ones, by leaving a gift in your Will to Ripple Africa you help to provide a sustainable future to the communities we work with in Malawi. Gifts to Ripple Africa in this way can mean that our work can continue, not just now, but long into the future for future generations.
The Founders’ Legacy
“My wife and I set up the charity in 2003 and our legacy is that we’ve created the incredible organisation which is Ripple Africa, focusing on providing sustainable futures in Malawi for generations to come. What started as a relatively small charity running education and healthcare projects has expanded to become one of the most effective environment and conservation charities in Malawi, with the projects all now run by our inspired and trusted Malawian teams.
You too could be part of this legacy by leaving a gift to Ripple Africa by writing your free Will. This is one of the best ways to ensure that Ripple Africa’s work continues into the future.”
Geoff Furber, CEO and Founder

Types of Gifts
There are three different types of gift you can leave:
A share of your estate (residuary gift): You may wish to leave a percentage of what’s left of your estate after your other wishes are carried out. This is a good option as it keeps its value in line with inflation.
A fixed amount of money (a pecuniary gift): You may wish to leave a fixed financial donation. It’s important to remember the value of this kind of gift reduces over time as inflation increases.
A specific item of value (a specific gift): You may wish to leave a particular item of value, such as a valuable piece of jewellery, a painting or a property, which can be sold to support our work.
Are There Inheritance Tax Benefits?
Gifts in wills to registered charities are free of inheritance tax. So, if the value of your estate is more than the tax threshold, a gift to charity could reduce the burden of inheritance tax. Also, if you leave 10% or more of your estate to charity, this can reduce the rate of inheritance tax from 40% to 36% on some assets. Making use of this could enable you to leave a legacy to a charity of your choice while helping your children, spouse, or whoever else you choose to leave an inheritance to, by lowering the amount of tax they would have to pay.
