A boot full of brick moulds, how exciting! – but it really is. We are proud to announce that our fuel-efficient cookstove project is expanding and will benefit hundreds of thousands more people in Mzimba, Nkhotakota and Salima Districts in Malawi.
We are a relatively small NGO making a huge impact in Malawi. We have one clear focus and an amazing team of passionate people who work daily to make a positive change actually happen.
This year we will be working with 80,000 new households in the mentioned Districts to build a cookstove at each house. It takes 26 bricks to build a cookstove and householders are so invested in this project that they make their own bricks – using the loaned brick moulds – ahead of getting hands-on and building the cookstove with one of the community volunteers.
With the 40,000 fuel-efficient cookstoves already built and in use in Nkhata Bay District we are helping save over four million bundles of wood every year. How incredible that millions more bundles will be saved which means more forests protected. Watch this space for more news!
