Lydia collects less wood to use on her new cookstove in Malawi

Early mornings

In Mzimba, one of the Districts we have expanded our fuel-efficient cookstove project to, we have met many women like Lydia and Iness who would spend hours collecting wood. The women would wake up at 2am to walk to find firewood and return around midday. Imagine having to repeat this three times a week!

But now this village has fuel-efficient cookstoves so the women no longer have to walk for hours as they can collect small twigs and branches, and use any agricultural waste like corn cobs.

Learn more about the project here.
