Saying Thank You doesn’t feel like enough but honestly, we are overwhelmed and so grateful to everyone who has donated to help us reach our Coronavirus Appeal target. You are truly wonderful.
We are continuing our fundraising to repair a further 650 boreholes – or as many as we raise the money for. £100 or $130 repairs a borehole and provides Malawians access to water for drinking and crucially at the moment, for washing their hands. In Malawi, the team are extremely busy making things happen. Thousands of leaflets have now been printed and distributed. Conservation Committee members are being trained in order to reach as many people in a short amount of time all the while observing social distancing guidelines.
We are currently repairing the first 100 boreholes in Nkhata Bay District with works on the Nkhotakota boreholes to start imminently. You can see in the video some of the boreholes being repaired.
Buckets and soap have also been bought and distributed to clinics, marketplaces and other communal areas to ensure people have access to being able to wash their hands whilst away from their homes.
