Our Partnerships Manager, Nikki Khoram, recently visited Hastings School in Madrid to run a full day of fuel-efficient cookstove related activities. The school is actively trying to reduce its carbon footprint and has chosen to offset their unavoidable emissions through our accredited cookstove project in Malawi.
Nikki spent the day with pupils from both primary school and secondary school year groups with classroom-led discussions on sustainability and hands-on sessions with the eco-committees making their own fuel-efficient cookstoves.
It was a brilliant day and a real opportunity to hear from the students how they view the challenges facing our planet and how they envisage creating a better world.
Nikki said, “Spending the day with students who are so passionate about the world we live in was truly refreshing. It is testament to the sustainability work that the school is doing that is inspiring these students in the Eco-Committees to create and action ideas that educate their fellow student body and improve the natural environment around them.”
