It is a busy time for farming families in Malawi as they harvest their maize and take off the kernels ready for turning into maize flour.
The cobs are not discarded though but used in our fuel-efficient cookstoves as an alternative source of fuel. This saves yet more time for the women as they don’t need to collect as much firewood.
