Beach Village Committees (BVCs), along with local community members in Mangochi District, have been carrying out beach clean ups to improve the general look of the beaches and improve hygiene conditions too.
Abandoned fishing gears, plastic waste and logs have been removed and disposed of properly.
The Clean Ups took place during July and August but the aim is to continue them each month.
The teams worked at nine beaches and around 200 people volunteered to improve the beach environment for all those relying on the Lake.
